We did it! The group stage is finally done! Now comes the real fun.
Group L – 5 pm
Panama 0 (932ft) v. England 2 (1,016 ft – tallest in EU 2012-20)
Croatia 2 (443ft) v. Ghana 1 (302ft) – Good game, one of the few in the 3rd round. Croatia look good but I am not sure they have the legs. Ghana has moments.
Bottom Line: 1) England; 2) Croatia; 3) Ghana
Group K – 7:30 pm
Colombia 0 (709ft) v Portugal 0 (476ft) – Colombia was dominate, nobody scored
DR Congo 3 (354ft) v. Uzbekistan 1 (874ft) – DR Congo come back from 1-0 down to make it into the knockouts! Uzbekistan ends with a -9 goal difference (see my note from yesterday)
Bottom Line: 1) Colombia; 2) Portugal, 3) DR Congo
Group J – 10 pm
Algeria 3 (869 ft tallest minaret in world) v. Austria 3 (722ft) – What a game. Algeria went up 3-2 in the 90+3. With that they grab second and Austria was likely out of the tournament. BUT NOT SO FAST (Lee Corso Voice), with the last header of the game Austria scored in the 90+6! What a way to end things. Now, both teams get to go through.
Jordon 1 (660ft) v Argentina 3 (772ft) – Argentina dominated, Messi scored, Jordan’s goalie was really bad. Messi now has 19 goals all time in the World Cup and 6 goals in this one alone.
Bottom Line: 1) Argentina; 2) Austria; 3) Algeria
Today we flush the following teams goodbye: (btw you should be playing the video once for each team that we flush. think of it like the cannon that goes off in Hunger Games when a person is killed)

Additionally, we flush these 3rd place teams that were not good enough.

On to the Knockouts!!! I will have thoughts tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s Game – Only one tomorrow!
3 pm – S. Africa v. Canada
This is by far the LEAST consequential game of the round of 32. If the winner of this game wins the next one, I will stop watching the rest of the World Cup. Good job to both teams on making it out the group stage, but they both stink.
