Today’s Game
Portugal 0 (Iberian Wolf) v. Spain 1 (Fighting Bull)
This game was pretty boring. Spain dominated most of the first half, and then Portugal had a couple chances to end the first. Second half, could have fallen asleep for 45 minutes and been fine. Spain scored in 90+1 and that was enough. This should be CR7’s last game. Bye.
Belgium 4 (none) v. USA 1 (cheetah because we are cheaters)
We suck. (Also Rudi Garcia (Belgium coach) may have done the thing that needed to happen for the last 8 years by moving past their “golden generation.” If he did, they are now extremely dangerous.)
Tomorrow’s Games – last day of the Round of 16. Tomorrow is the last day before a break in the games (finally). Wednesday we have no games. Then Thursday-Sunday we have one quarterfinal game each day. The end is near.
12 pm – Argentina v. Egypt – Messi v. Salah. I think Argentina will show its stature, but I am hesitant because Egypt is playing for their pharaoh (Salah). This may be a sneaky contender for game of the tournament.
4 pm – Swiss v. Colombia – When I saw Swiss on the score sheet, it makes me want to go to sleep. They are talented, they play well, they are strong, they are smart. What they are not: exciting. But being exciting is not what determines games. Colombia is exciting. They are fiery. They attack, they try, they are creative. Clearly I want Colombia to win. Who knows though.
