World Cup 2025 – Day 15

Group E – 4 pm
Curucao 0 (164 ft) v. Ivory Coast 2 (1,381 ft) – not much to say, thanks for coming out Curucao
Ecuador 2 (448ft) v. Germany 1 (850ft)* – Ecuador played their freaking hearts out. Went down 1-0 early in 2nd minute (there should have been a high kick called against Germany) but got tied back up 7 minutes later. They then fought and fought and fought until they got the second goal later in the second half. If they did not win this game they would not have gotten through, but now they are into the knockouts. Keep your eye on this team, they might pull something out of the bag in the knockouts.

Bottom line: 1) Germany; 2) Ivory Coast; 3) Ecuador

Group F – 7 pm
Tunisia 1 (263 ft) v. Netherlands 3 (705ft) – With one of the worst goal differentials in World Cup history (-10), Tunisia has finally been put out of their misery.
Japan 1 (1,067ft-I would have thought bigger)) v. Sweden 1 (807ft) – who cares, both were getting through

Bottom line: 1) Netherlands; 2) Japan; 3) Sweden

Group D – 10 pm
Turkey 3 (1,155ft) v. USA 2 (1,776ft) – Turkey’s national anthem is sooo long and FIFA is playing our national anthem way to fast. Our back line looked atrocious last night (don’t worry they are not our starters) (do worry if one of our starters gets injured). Lucky nobody was watching this game or cared.

Paraguay 0 (564ft) v. Australia 0 (1,058ft)** – snooze fest

Bottom line: 1) USA; 2) Ausies; 3) Paraguay

Today we flush the following teams goodsbye:

Tomorrow’s Games
Group I – 3 pm – Third place battle is all that matters
Norway v. France – who cares/battle for 1st, France just needs a tie, both teams should sit players
Senegal v. Iraq – Winner could get through

Group H – 8 pm – everyone alive
Cabo Verde v. Saudi Arabia – Cabo probably gets through with a tie, Saudis need a win
Uruguay v. Spain – Spain needs a point to get first, Uruguay needs a win to get first

Group G – 11 pm – everyone alive
New Zealand v. Belgium – Belgium probably just needs a point, but winner goes through
Egypt v. Iran – a point for Egypt could = group leader

*this was the tallest building from 1997-2012 and then again from 2020-2021, not sure how it became the tallest building again without growing. Seems suspect.

**second tallest building in the southern hemisphere (insert joke)
