HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Congratulations to the Warriors of the Equator on winning a 1-1 tie! Ronaldo is a joke (I was right about this). Portugal STINKS!
ROOARR (England) 4 v Blazers (Croatia) 2
Yesterday I said “This should be a good game, although Croatia is old.” Today, we saw the best game of the first round, and Croatia looked old for most of the second half. England looks good, really good. Harry Kane is a superstar and a problem (2 goals today and a blocked goal). Jude Bellingham is a monster (one goal and dominant). They have been building long term momentum over the last two Euros (2nd place twice) and the last world cup (quarter-finals loss to France), and this might be the time to get them over the hump. Who would have though that they just needed a German to lead them.
Croatia, they are still very alive. Despite the fact that their heart beat (Modric) is 40 years old, they not only scored 2, but they very easily could have tied the game 3-3 towards the end of the game. They seem unlikely to repeat their performances from the last two world cups (2nd place 2018, 3rd in 2022), but no one really believed in them for either of their previous runs.
One note on PKs. I HATE that Kane got to take a second bite at the apple. I hate that shooters can pause/stop in their run up to the ball. It used to be that players had to continue their forward momentum once they started. This meant that they could slow down, but they could not stop on their run up. It made things more even because goalies had a better chance to time things because they knew that even if the player slowed down they would still have to keep going forward. Now, players can straight up stop and just wait. Players obviously like to do that, but then you get what happens today. The keeper times his block a micro-second off and the shooter gets a second shot. (Also the pictures seem to show that the keeper’s heel was still on the line, so double sucks!)
Now that i look at that picture, maybe he was off his line. I still stand by my take. #neverbackdown.
Black Stars (Ghana) 1 v The Canal Men (Panama) 0
Decent game. Both teams played hard and the ball went back and forth. Ghana got its goal at the very end (90+5), but they seemed like the better team over the course of the game. Neither team is really going to matter in this cup.
White Wolves (Uzbekistan) 1 v. Los Cafeteros (Colombia) 3
I am annoyed at Colombia. I was about to go to bed thinking, they have this in the bag, and then the White Wolves scored to tie it 1-1 in the ~60th min. Then I had to stay up to see what would happen. They ended up winning anyways (their Iberian peninsula brethren cannot say the same).
Tomorrow’s Games – We are finally starting the second round of games. There are many teams that could be punching their ticket to the knockout rounds with a win this round. However, to figure out who is likely to play who and what position which team wants to be in, you would need a PhD in tournament math. Don’t worry I will be breaking it all down*
Group A
12 pm – Czechia v. S. Africa – one of these teams need to win to remain alive
9 pm – Mexico v. S. Korea – the team that wins this is through to knockouts, and likely the top of the group
Group B – everyone tied 1-1 in the first game, group is wide open
3 pm – Swiss v. Bosnia & Hertz
6 pm – Canada v. Qatar

Alexi Lawless is the worst. I have been lucky to not have to listen to that hairy turd because of my boycott, but I still see things through the interwebs, He is arrogant, dumb, annoying, loud, wrong, not smart, lame, and desperate, and his colleagues Zlatan and Thierry Henry (ever heard of them?) are beyond fed up with him. Just listen to Zlatan when the red devil said something after the French game:

Obviously Fox is not going to do anything because they are equally the worst, but if they did get rid of him I would hate them about 10% less than I currently do. . . . Balls in your court Fox. #BOYCOTTFOX!!!
