World Cup 2026 – Day 34 (The Final)

Spain 1 v Argentina 0
That halftime show STUNK!!!!! Madonna boo; why were the muppets playing the White Stripes?; I might be a BTS fan now but I am torn because K-pop Demon Hunters taught me that Korean boy bands are demons so I feel like I should not like them; JB singing a church song really brought down the mood; Shakira only puts out bangers; Coldplay guy Love song was at best: meh. 2 out 6 = did not pass. Also, the halftime was 27 minutes long, ie it was nearly twice as long as a normal halftime. Whoever put together this show just showed they are idiots.

So attractive but so evil, must resist

Also the game….BORING. Spain absolutely dominated Argentina. It was not even close.

These are more dominant stats then Spains 3-0 round of 32 win against Austria.

Spain controlled the entire game, but did not have very serious chances until later in the second half. Argentina looked like they went in there trying to get to PKs the entire time. Then when they went down to 10 men in the 90+3, their only play was to try to get to PKs. Argentina were hanging on the entire time and in the few moments that they did try to play soccer, Spain would beat them down like an older brother in the backyard. Spain was absolutely deserving of the win. Argentina deserved to lose. This was the type of game I feared was going to happen because Spain is too good and this is how they play. But, that is also a credit to Spain. They were so good that they just smothered teams to death. Their defense was so incredibly strong, they only let up one goal the entire world cup. This is a new record. Previously three teams had won the title by only letting up 2 goals. It is incredible that they only let up 1 goal. 1 GOAL. THATS IT! That is crazy.

Congratulations to Spain. But also, now soccer is about to get a lot more boring because everyone is going to try and copy Spain’s playing style.

As for Messi and Argentina. They are terrible losers, except for Messi. They also were falling a part on the field. At one point it looked like they were not going to be able to end the game with the 10 men remaining because of injuries. They are also a strange team. They seemed to need to be down to be able to play their game. Even in this game, they finally had some chances in the last 15 minutes once they started to attack with abandon. Messi, for the most part, can leave this tournament with his head held high (alteration). He lost the golden boot, he will not be able to ever claim the most world cup goals ever, but he has played in three world cup finals and only one other man can claim that. He also dragged a team that had flaws all over the field to two world cup finals in a row and had a team and a nation bonded to a mindset and belief. He is, without question, one of the best players of all time, and he has a strong argument for being better than his compatriot Maradona to take the 2nd place behind Pele. More importantly, despite being the most famous man in the world for over 20 years, he seems to be a relatively normal and kind human being. It is worth celebrating that in this day and age. I hope he figures out how to retire because he is still playing great, but there is no way this can last much longer. Today, I think we saw that a hot field and a stronger, younger team was too much for him. That will not get any better in four years. Regardless, we are all better for having been able to watch him.

We now can countdown to the next summer’s Women’s World Cup. A sport we can actually be proud of our team for and fully support. A tournament where WE are the one’s to beat. I CANT WAIT!
